After spending six months last year converting my basement to create a space to put a studio I'm finally fully equipped and ready to fire her up ready to drop some pedal steel on folk's tracks! I've also gotten around to building a website. I've been having a lovely old time researching what I wanted to use to record to get the sound I'm after and I've been learning about the role and function of power conditioners. Riveting stuff!
I've of course been listening to some great music while putting the finishing touches to everything, that great music being delivered by the likes of the amazing Holly Macve, Noah Gunderson, Waylon Jennings, Robbie Cavanagh, Pinegrove, Young In The City, Sturgill Simpson and Robert Vincent. I just installed Native Instruments Komplete so I've also been getting sidetracked playing around with synths!
In between all this though I've had the pleasure of doing some lovely shows in equally lovely parts of the country. I've visited Kent and Sussex for the first time courtesy of two events curated by Chris Difford of Squeeze fame and we got to stay on the Rathfinney wine estate, which is simply one of the most picturesque places I've seen on our shores! Also had some time in Portsmouth for a brilliant show at The Guild Hall for A Country Night In Nashville. What a lovely bunch they were! Thanks for the standing ovation!!
So this marks my first ever blog post, yet to figure out how to sign off of one so, erm, signing off. Back soon.
